John Lewis expands Click & Collect service
John Lewis has announced plans to more than double its number of John Lewis Click and Collect collection points around the country.
The retailer will be rolling out the service to a further 60 Waitrose branches to enable it to reach customers in areas not currently served by a John Lewis department store or an ‘at home’ shop. John Lewis plans to have 119 collection points around the UK by the end of October and will extend the service further throughout 2012.
The move forms part of the retailer’s strategy to increase the strength of its multi-channel operation.
The first tranche of new Waitrose branches to offer the service include Harrogate, Lincoln and Towcester. A further 10 Waitrose branches will be come on board next month with the rest following during October.
Andy Street, John Lewis managing director said: “ The collaboration with Waitrose has been hugely important in offering our customers the option to Click and Collect for their purchases. Looking to the future it will be a key element in developing our multi channel strategy even further by extending collection points to many more parts of the country.
“Of all John Lewis services, Click and Collect scores highest among our customers on recommending the service to others. That speaks volumes about the appetite for multi channel shopping in the retail arena”.
John Lewis launched the Click and Collect in February 2009. The service is now available in all 28 John Lewis department stores, four ‘at home’ shops and 24Waitrose branches. It accounts for 20% of johnlewis.com orders and is the fastest growing fulfilment method – growing at more than twice the rate of online sales.
