John Lewis enjoys strong end to clearance with sales up 18.8% last week
John Lewis has enjoyed a strong end to its clearance sale period as sales rose by 18.8% year-on-year last week.
The Home category achieved the biggest percentage increase with sales rising by 33.7% on last year, boosted by 50% growth in furniture sales.
Fashion sales increased by 13.6% after the retailer benefited from a 25% rise in childrenswear sales as parents bought clothing for the summer holidays.
Electricals and home technology sales climbed 11.4% with audio and large appliances both performing well.

John Lewis managing director Andy Street said: “The result lifted the score for the half year to 9.4%, and therefore with just one week to go, we can conclude that it has been another positive half for John Lewis. We go into the all-important second half with hard won momentum.”
