John Lewis appoints product director for lifestyle

The John Lewis department store has appointed Zoe Matthews as product director for lifestyle (fashion and home).

She previously worked as vice president for Asda’s George brand.

Prior to that, Matthews spent over four years with The Very Group as fashion director and also held senior buying roles at Gap, White Stuff, House of Fraser, John Lewis and Marks & Spencer.

Last week, the John Lewis Partnership announced that it had plunged to a £99 million loss in the first half of its financial year.  The partnership blamed the result on a combination of cost inflation not fully passed on to customers and the impact of the cost-of-living crisis.

It also confirmed that it will be awarding its staff a one-off payment and free food over the winter to help with living costs.
