John Lewis and Waitrose prepare for their most virtual Christmas yet
John Lewis and Waitrose are preparing for their most virtual Christmas to date due to the ongoing impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
The John Lewis department store has enabled customers buying faux Christmas trees to ‘try before they buy’ through a new augmented reality feature on the John Lewis IOS app. The feature allows customers to put up their tree virtually with the tap of a button and see what style or size works best for their room space.
In addition, the retailer has launched its first ever virtual Christmas shop on Johnlewis.com which has been visited over 64,000 times since it launched at the end of September.
Both Waitrose and John Lewis are also hosting a range of online events in the run-up to the big day to give customers advice on everything from makeup and festive Zoom parties to the best coats for outside hosting and preparing a Christmas feast.
For those customers trying their hand at preparing Christmas lunch for the first time, Waitrose Cookery School will be hosting a Perfect ‘Prepare Ahead’ Christmas course priced at £5, and will also offer foodie gifts courses with masterclasses on how to make items such as panforte or truffles for friends and family.
