JML to launch TV shopping channel with ITV

Home shopping retailer JML is teaming up with ITV to launch a new TV shopping channel called The Store.

Launching on 1 October, the channel will use JML’s newly created ‘chatmercial ‘ format which is a combination of an infomercial and a chat show filmed in front of a studio audience.

The Store will broadcast seven days a week, 24 hours a day on Sky channel 642, FreeSat Channel 809 and selected content will be streamed on ITV.com.

It will also broadcast up to seven hours per day on Freeview Channel 39, and The Store ‘chatmercials’ will continue to air two hours per week on Sunday nights on ITV.

Never Miss a Retail Update!

The Store will offer viewers a choice of health, beauty, gift and home products which will be sold through demonstrations. A range of exclusive celebrity beauty products will also feature on the channel and the launch line-up includes Bollywood Professional cosmetics, Frankie Essex’s hair products, Chloe Sim’s tanning range and Melanie Sykes’ Active Woman supplements.

In addition to the TV coverage on ITV, Sky and Freeview, The Store will have an online and mobile presence through Facebook and Twitter. Products can be purchased via phone or through thestore.com.

Hannah Treble, group marketing and commercial director at JML, said: “The Store is an engaging, fresh format for a shopping channel and we are really excited to be bringing this to market with ITV. With the UK TV home shopping market worth at least £1 billion and growing, it’s a great opportunity for us and our future retail partners. The Store is a prime example of a true multichannel venture.”
