JLL appointed to secure hotel operator for Woking’s Victoria Square
Bandstand Square Developments has appointed of JLL Hotels and Hospitality to advise on the identification and selection of an operator for the new 190-bed four-star hotel within Victoria Square, the mixed-use development on lands to the west of the Wolsey Place shopping centre in Woking.
BSDL is a tri-partite venture between Moyallen, Woking Borough Council and Surrey County Council.
In addition to the new hotel, the proposals for Victoria Square include the creation of 125,000 square feet of new retail floor space anchored by a 60,000 square foot Marks & Spencer store, 392 residential apartments, space for a medical centre, 284 additional car parking spaces, and two new public plazas.
Peter Robinson, managing director of Moyallen, said: “We are delighted to be working with JLL to secure a new hotel brand for Woking. This prestigious development is an excellent opportunity for a leading hotel brand to secure a flagship site in one of the most rapidly developing towns in the UK.”
Matt Lederer, vice president at JLL Hotels and Hospitality, added: “This is a great instruction for JLL. This is an opportunity to operate a hotel in not just a fast growing town with a very strong business base, but one that serves central London and its two principal airports. We are confident that there will be substantial demand from leading hotel operators.”
Woking has benefited from significant investment over the last two years, with brands such as Carluccio’s, Bill’s Restaurant and Las Iguanas all making their debut in the town centre. In addition, Côte is currently fitting out its new restaurant, ahead of a planned opening this summer.
Work on Victoria Square is set to begin in early 2017, with completion in 2020.
