Jessops posts 3.3% increase in sales
Photographic retailer Jessops has reported a 3.3% increase in sales for the half year to 17 July saying that trading is ahead of target. Like-for-like sales increased 3.6%
Jessops CEO Trevor Moore said that online sales had almost doubled since the second half of last year with more customers opting to collect their online orders in person for a high street store. He also said the store refurbishment programme was proceeding as planned with refurbished and relocated stores delivering an average sales increase of 30%. Jessops opened three new stores and refurbished or refreshed a further 43 during the period.
Moore commented: “Following last year’s positive EBITDA performance, we set ourselves a challenging plan this year which we are exceeding.”
He continued: “Whilst we anticipate market conditions will remain challenging in the foreseeable future, with our multi-channel proposition supported by innovation, we are well positioned to deliver further profitable market share growth.”
