JD Sports to relocate to upsized store in Milton Keynes

JD Sports is to relocate to a new 9,687 square foot store on Midsummer Arcade at Centre:mk in Milton Keynes.

Situated adjacent to the recently opened Smiggle and newly refitted Goldsmiths Jewellers, the store will open in late November and incorporate a new look store design as well as additional trading space for the brand.

Group acquisitions manager at JD Sports, Warren Thompson, said: “This well located prominent space at Centre:mk allows us to deliver an exciting opportunity before Christmas and to create an even better offer for our consumers. Milton Keynes is an important catchment for the group and we wanted to utilise this relocation within a leading retail and leisure destination.”

Jointly owned by Hermes Investment Management and AustralianSuper, Centre:mk has recently signed up lifestyle fashion brand, Joules, and welcomed Danish homewares brand, Tiger.

Ed Sellick, asset manager at Hermes Investment Management, said: “JD Sports has always traded well at Centre:mk and we are pleased to work with the brand to offer them an alternative space to create a new store design and maximise trading. Research has shown that stores at Centre:mk trade 30% above their chain averages, and by working directly with brands such as JD Sports, we are able to offer the best opportunity to capitalise on that success.”
