JD Sports non-executive director to step down

JD Sports has announced that its non-executive director Mahbobeh Sabetnia is to step down after being a member of its board for nearly two and a half years.

She is also a member of the board’s remuneration committee.

In a statement, the sportswear retailer said Sabetnia has decided not to stand for re-election at its AGM in June. This means she will step down following the conclusion of the meeting.

Sabetnia is a former global head of digital customer activation at HSBC and most recently worked as chief product officer at Haleon.

Andy Higginson, chair of JD Sports, said: “Mahbobeh has made a valuable contribution to the board and in her role as a member of the remuneration committee. On behalf of the board, I would like to thank her for her time and wish her every success for the future.”

The JD Sports board has now commenced a process to identify and appoint an additional independent non-executive director and will provide an update in due course.
