JD Sports maintains like-for-like sales growth of 5.8% in third quarter
Sportswear retailer JD Sports Fashion has reported that its third quarter like-for-like sales have risen by the same level as in the first half of the financial year.
In the retailer’s interim results on 18 September 2013, JD Sports revealed that like-for-like sales in its core UK and Ireland sports and fashion fascias had increased by 5.8% in the 26 weeks to 3 August 2013.
In statement issued today, the retailer said that after a further sixteen weeks of trading the-like-for-like sales improvement was cumulatively “at very much the same level”. It also reported being “pleased” with recent progress at its outdoor business which includes the Blacks and Millets stores.
The retailer added: “The result for the full year remains, as usual, substantially dependent on the sales and margin performance through the Christmas period and particularly in the last two weeks of December. At this stage the board believes the group remains on course to deliver earnings at least in line with current expectations.”
