JD Sports appoints new non-exec director

Sportswear retailer JD Sports has appointed Andy Rubin as a non-executive director.

Rubin is chairman of Pentland Brands, a director of Pentland Group, and the European vice-president of the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry.

JD Sports said it will benefit from Rubin’s experience of brand development outside of Europe.

Peter Cowgill, JD Sports executive chairman, added: “I am pleased to announce that Andy has agreed to join the Board. His experience of managing and developing brands internationally will add to our board as we continue the international expansion of the JD brand.”
