JD Outdoor appoints new chief executive

JD Sports has appointed former Hobbycraft chief executive Dominic Jordan to succeed Lee Bagnall as chief executive of its outdoor division.

The business includes the GO Outdoors, Blacks and Millets brands.

Jordan has held the top job at Hobbycraft for the last seven years.

Speaking to Drapers, a JD Sports spokesperson said: “We are delighted to welcome Dominic Jordan as the new chief executive of JD Outdoor. Dominic’s track record in retail transformation, digital strategy and store operations make him an ideal addition to the JD team and a leader for our outdoors business.

“We thank Lee Bagnall for his significant contribution to JD Outdoor over the last 12 years, driving growth and innovation in our outdoor fascia. Lee will remain with the business to ensure a smooth transition.”

Last August, GO Outdoors opened the “biggest ever outdoor store in Europe” at York’s Vangarde Shopping Park. The shop has 125,000 square feet of space and socks around 380 brands.
