Intu unveils plans for retail, restaurant and cinema scheme at Intu Milton Keynes

Intu has unveiled plans to transform parts of its Intu Milton Keynes shopping centre.

Work will focus on remodelling the centrally connected Midsummer Boulevard area which will see the introduction of a new two-level dining quarter and a five-screen boutique cinema.

In addition, external green public spaces will provide a platform for community events and entertainment as well as a relaxation area for shoppers.

Martin Breeden, regional director of Intu, said: “The mission here is twofold: to create prime, well configured retail and catering space and also high quality public spaces. Intu Milton Keynes is the busiest part of the city centre with the strongest retail mix and now we are looking forward to making the most of the Boulevard area.”

With annual footfall of 16 million, Intu Milton Keynes is anchored by Debenhams and shops include the likes of Apple, Hollister, H&M, Hugo Boss, Superdry and Zara.

The proposed work is part of Intu’s £1.3 billion development pipeline in the UK over the next 10 years which includes proposals for the redevelopment of Nottingham’s Intu Broadmarsh and a current project to extend the restaurant and leisure offer at Intu Potteries in Stoke-on-Trent.
