Intu launches pilot apprenticeship scheme

Shopping centre operator Intu has launched a pilot national apprenticeship scheme.

Following an initial launch at Intu Lakeside, the company is then planning to roll the scheme out across its 15 regional shopping centres.

The announcement coincides with National Apprenticeship Week 2015 which runs from 9 to 13 March.

Bernie Kingsley, HR director of Intu, said: “Intu recognises the importance of developing talent through investment in apprenticeships and we are pleased to announce the start of the pilot scheme. Intu already supports apprenticeships and the introduction of a national scheme will enable us to offer more opportunities across the country.”

Intu offers careers in a variety of roles ranging from customer service, facilities management and marketing, to planning and construction and asset management.

Kingsley added: “We have the ability to help young people find successful careers in a number of different areas of our business, opportunities that they may have never associated with a shopping centre owner. The new national apprenticeship scheme will help to identify a pipeline of talented people who will play a key part in Intu’s future success.”
