Intu launches ‘Big Treat’ marketing campaign

Shopping centre group Intu is running a new national marketing campaign in May as it looks to encourage shoppers to travel from further and dwell for longer.

To include workshops, discounts, competitions and social media rewards, the Big Treat’ campaign will also encourage visitors to treat themselves and try something new.

The campaign will highlight the range of restaurants and leisure attractions available, giving customers a reason to try a different dining experience, while ‘kids go free’ cinema tickets will encourage families to visit the centre’s cinemas.

The events and attractions will include artisan food markets, cookery demos from local catering colleges and live music.

Trevor Pereira, commercial & digital director of Intu, said: “Intu is the only company with a wide geographic spread of prime shopping centres. We are therefore in a great position to organise national campaigns to engage large numbers of customers. Each centre will organise its own attractions in keeping with local tastes, interests and relevance. Discounts and prizes will encourage customers to discover all that is good in their local intu shopping centre.”

Intu said the online aspects of the campaign will be designed to appeal to omni-channel shoppers, while the #intuBigTreat hashtag will encourage conversations.

Social media will include promotions where customers can nominate their friends and family for gifts and special presents using a Facebook app.

In addition, the intu.co.uk website will feature a number of flash sales from retailers within the centres.
