Intu Derby expands its leisure offer

Shopping centre operator Intu has signed two major names to its new 42,000 square foot leisure space at Intu Derby which is due to open in early 2017.

Situated on the third level of the shopping centre, the leisure area will be home to ten-pin bowling business Hollywood Bowl and Paradise Island Adventure Golf.

Martin Breeden, development director at Intu, said: “This is a really ingenious project where we’re converting a deck of the multi storey car park into further leisure anchors. We’ve already got Showcase Cinema de Lux one of the best cinemas in the country, and this will provide further knock on trade to our retail and catering where Mac, Smiggle, Office, Joe’s Kitchen, Byron Burger, Chimichanga, Zizzi, Yo! Sushi and Barburrito have all arrived over the last 12 months.”

Hollywood Bowl will feature 18 fully computerised lanes, including four exclusive VIP lanes. Set over 23,000 square feet, it will also offer an American diner, a bar, amusements and pool areas.

Steve Burns, chief executive of The Original Bowling Company, said: “We are very excited to be bringing a new, state of the art entertainment venue to Intu Derby. The new Hollywood Bowl will provide high quality, fun-filled leisure experiences to customers of all ages in our bowling, diner, bar and amusement areas.”

Meanwhile, Paradise Island Adventure Golf will be taking just under 14,000 square feet of space for its mini-golf challenge set amidst a tropical island paradise with two bespoke 18-hole golf courses.

Joshua Dantzic, director at Paradise Island Adventure Golf, said: “Adventure golf is fast becoming one of the most popular attractions on the UK leisure scene and this is our third location in an Intu development. Intu offers some of the most exciting leisure opportunities in the UK and we hope to continue to build our relationship further in other Intu destinations.”
