Intu Broadmarsh redevelopment given the green light
Nottingham City Council has approved plans for a transformation of Intu Broadmarsh in Nottingham.
As well as a remodelled shopping centre, the plans include the creation of a new route through the development to form a new southern gateway into the city centre. They also include an increase in the number of places to eat and the development of a multi-screen cinema to give customers a reason to visit more often and stay for longer.
With two thirds of the scheme owned by shopping centre operator Intu and the remaining third owned by Nottingham City Council, the approved work forms part of a £150 million investment by the two organisations in the Broadmarsh area. This includes a refurbishment of the car park and bus station, and public realm improvements.
Intu’s investment is part of its £1.3 billion development pipeline in the UK over the next ten years.
Martin Breeden, regional director of Intu, said: “We’re delighted that our plans for Intu Broadmarsh have received approval. Along with our work at Intu Victoria Centre, we now have a great opportunity to create something special for Nottingham. We look forward to working together with the Council to move the project forward.”
