Internacionale IP sold in six-figure deal

Intellectual property specialist Metis has announced that the intellectual property of value fashion chain Internacionale has been sold in a six-figure deal to a major high street retail chain.

Stephen Robertson of Metis Partners said: “The sale process was very competitive and Metis has been successful in finding a buyer of considerable stature.”

Although the buyer is understood to be Peacocks owner Edinburgh Woollen Mill, Metis did not reveal the buyer’s name but said: “While the buyer wants to remain out of the public domain at the moment, there are hopes within retail circles that the purchase might lead to the re-purposing of some of Internacionale’s outlets.”

The joint administrators, Lyn Leon Vardy, Toby Scott Underwood and John Bruce Cartwright of PwC, added: “The buyer is an extremely successful company which operates in diverse sectors of the marketplace and the assets contained within the Internacionale brand will add to its already impressive portfolio.”

Never Miss a Retail Update!

Assets in the Internacionale sale include a range of registered UK and EC trademarks, unregistered trademarks, the customer database, goodwill in the brand and reputation, and the e-commerce website content.

Internacionale had 89 stores in the UK before it went into administration earlier this year.  Metis was called in to co-ordinate the global marketing of the IP assets.
