Ingenuity appoints first chairman to support growth plans

Ingenuity, the complete commerce business of THG, has appointed its first chairman as it looks to accelerate growth in its core markets.

In his new role, technology and payments entrepreneur Alistair Crane will support Ingenuity’s senior leadership team by using his experience and contacts to scale the business, including in the US.

Growth plans include seeking further major enterprise partners in core categories such as nutrition, wellness, prestige beauty, retail and food and beverage. Ingenuity’s current partnerships include L’Oreal, Matalan and Asda.

Currently chief executive of digital career coaching business Bloom, Crane has extensive experience of working with brands and of founding, scaling and exiting ecommerce businesses in the UK and US over a 20-year career. Prior to Bloom, he founded Grapple, a developer of mobile apps for brands that was acquired by Monitise, and Hero, a social shopping platform that was bought by Klarna in 2021.

Matt Moulding, chief executive of THG, said: “I’d like to welcome Alistair to Ingenuity and the wider  THG business and we’re looking forward to benefiting from his drive and experience. He has spent his career building digital brands and scaling high-growth businesses, so he is the perfect candidate to help Ingenuity expand across core markets.”
