Independent research: why 70% of consumers abandon online baskets

It is industry standard for companies to have in place an abandoned basket strategy.

Figures vary but over 70% of baskets can be abandoned and being able to change customers’ behaviour so they complete their purchase is a clear way to increase revenue.

To find out why customers abandon baskets, research was commissioned to look at the underlying motivation behind the behaviour. This was to see what reasons customers gave when they did not complete a purchase and to be able to consider the overall picture. The findings were surprising and informative.
