House of Fraser plans Chester store

Deal to anchor Northgate Centre
House of Fraser has signed deal for a new store in Chester, to anchor the Northgate Centre development in the upmarket north-west city.

The new store, planned to open in Chester in 2008, will be developed by Northgate Partnership. Work is expected to start on the site late next year.
The latest deal for the department store adds to new stores in development for Maidstone, Dublin, Norwich, Belfast, and High Wycombe.
House of Fraser chief eExecutive John Coleman said: “Securing this important site in Chester is great news for House of Fraser as we continue to roll out our store portfolio development programme.
“Chester is a new and exciting market for House of Fraser, and we believe our offer of leading retail brands will significantly enhance shopping in the city.
“Our nationwide store programme has met with considerable acclaim. In recent years we have opened stores at Bluewater, in Nottingham, Reading, and the recently-opened City of London and Croydon stores. Our success to date reinforces our confidence in our store strategy and we believe that it will continue to deliver future results.”
