Hotel Chocolat’s sales ahead of expectations

Hotel Chocolat has grown its full year revenue by 12% as it performed slightly ahead of market expectations.

In the year to 26 June revenue grew to £92.6 million boosted by a 20% increase in online sales.

The chocolatier said its new store opening programme had progressed well since its admission to trading on London’s Alternative Investment Market in May 2016. This includes a new store in Sheffield, which opened on 9 May, and a further four stores set to launch later this year. The company also revealed that its new Father’s Day campaign ‘Better than Socks’ performed particularly well.

Hotel Chocolat’s capital projects, including the increase in manufacturing capacity at the its facility near Cambridge, are on schedule and within budget.

The company said current trading is in line with management’s expectations.

Hotel Chocolat expects to announce its maiden preliminary results for FY16 in mid-October.
