Holland & Barrett partners with The National Forest
Health food retailer Holland & Barrett has launched a project to create four hectares of new woodland in The National Forest.
The project is the first under the retailer’s Healthy Hope initiative which has been developed to help local groups, charities and organisations benefit from funding.
Both Holland & Barrett’s head office in Nuneaton and its distribution centre in Burton-upon-Trent are within 45 minutes of the new site in Charnwood, Leicestershire, which is currently open ground.
During a vist to the National Forest where he was shown an area of newly planted woodland, the retailer’s group director of property Gurdial Flora said: “This is a wonderful opportunity to get a taste of what our woodland will look like in a few years. We are delighted to support The National Forest in this way: we employ thousands nationwide including at our head office in Nuneaton and distribution centre in Burton-upon-Trent, who can all enjoy the marvellous resource that is The National Forest, and as a national company we are excited to be part of the visionary work of the Forest, one of the boldest environmental initiatives in the country.”
The three-year project is the latest in Holland & Barrett’s commitment to the environment, including switching all 700 of its UK stores to use renewable energy, and banning single-use plastic bags in favour of reusable materials.
