HMV Group announces new chairman
Ex-publishing boss to head entertainment retailer

HMV Group has appointed Sir Robin Miller to succeed Eric Nicoli as its non-executive chairman of from next February.
Sir Robin is the former chief executive and non-executive chairman of media group Emap, and left the group at the start of this year.
Nicoli, who will resign as a director of HMV when his replacement takes over, has been on the HMV board since January 2000. His period has chairman has seen the company list on the Stock Exchange.
HMV chief executive Alan Giles said: “I am delighted to welcome Sir Robin as Chairman of HMV Group. He is a first class businessman with a proven track record in the media and consumer industries.
“As such, he brings a great deal of experience and wisdom to the group and I very much look forward to working with him.
“The board is hugely grateful to Eric Nicoli for his leadership over the last three years. Eric has played a key role in the development of the business, particularly in guiding the company to its London Stock Exchange listing last year.”
Nicoli said: “Since joining the HMV Group board in January 2000, I have been fortunate to
play a part in the growth and development of an exciting and dynamic company. HMV has been a listed company for 18 months now, and is exceptionally well run and has good growth prospects.
“I feel that this is a natural point for me to hand over to a new chairman who will see the company through the next phase of its development. I have enjoyed my association with HMV and am proud of all that has been achieved, both before and since flotation. Robin will be an excellent chairman of a high quality board and I feel confident that Alan and his team will continue to flourish.”
