H&M to expand into India
High street fashion retailer H&M has announced plans to open its first store in India.
The retailer said the flagship store will open in 2014 although the precise location has yet to be revealed. The news follows an earlier announcement that H&M will open its first stores in the Philippines and Australia this year.
“We are very excited to open our first store in India. It is one of the most exciting countries in the world right now, with so much potential,” said Karl-Johan Persson, chief executive of H&M.
H&M currently operates in 53 markets worldwide and employs over 116,000 people in 3,100 stores.
