Swedish fashion chain H&M has reported a 11% year-on-year increase in sales for April which is the biggest rise in eight months.
H&M said the warmer weather in many European cities where its stores are based persuaded shoppers to update their summer wardrobes earlier than usual with items such as swimwear and sandals selling well. Online and catalogue total sales increased by 21%.
The upbeat figure, which has exceed analysts’ expectations, follows a 5% drop in sales in March.
H&M is the world’s second largest clothing retailer with over 2,000 stores across the globe.
