Hamleys opens flagship Chinese store
Hamleys, the historic British toy brand, has expanded in China with the opening of a flagship store in Nanjing.
Spanning four floors and nearly 7,000 square metres, the new store is situated at the Xinjiekou Sanpower Plaza.
The shop will sell both traditional and high-tech educational toys including the brand’s iconic teddy bears and toy brands such as Hasbro, Mattel and Lego. It is also home to a range of entertainment facilities including remote control car racing and virtual reality games.
Hamleys is also planning to launch branches in several major Chinese cities in 2017, including Beijing, Shanghai, Xuzhou and Hangzhou. Future plans indicate that there could be up to 100 stores opening in China in the near future. Each store will cover 10,000 square metres.
Established in 1760, Hamleys was acquired by C.banner in 2015.
