Hamleys expands in Italy with new flagship store in Rome
Toy retailer Hamleys has expanded its presence in Italy with the opening of a second store.
Working in partnership with Giochi Preziosi, Italy’s leading player in toy production and distribution, the retailer has launched a shop in Galleria Alberto Sordi on Rome’s Via del Corso.
The move follows the recent opening of a flagship Hamleys shop in Milan at Corso Vittorio Emanuele.
Sumeet Yadav, chief executive of Hamleys Global, said: “Our expansion into Rome marks a significant milestone in our global journey, as we continue to enrich iconic cities worldwide with the timeless magic of Hamleys.
“Each new market brings our storied history to life, reaffirming our commitment to being the world’s finest toy shop in the world.”
Spanning 1,360 square metres, the new store is spread over two levels and a mezzanine and is decorated in Hamleys’ signature colours of red and white. Its brand sections include space for popular toy brands such as Lego, Nerf and Barbie, as well as Build-A-Bear which has an exclusive corner. The shop also sells Hamleys’ proprietary line and vendor-branded merchandise.
Founded in 1760 by William Hamley and acquired by Reliance Brands in 2019, Hamleys currently has 189 shops spread across 16 countries. It is currently expanding into new markets and has recently launched in Tirana, Pristina and Doha.
