Hamleys expands further in Italy
Hamleys is opening its third Italian store in 12 months today at Bergamo’s Oriocenter.
The news comes hot on the heels of the toy retailer’s new store launches in Milan and Rome.
Opened in partnership with Italian toy manufacturer and distributor Giochi Preziosi Group, the shop spans 1,150 square metres and offers a range of toys across all play categories, including from brands such as Barbie, Lego and Nerf. It also features exclusive areas for brands like Build-A-Bear and Soccerbot.
The Oriocenter is a key shopping destination for the eastern area of Lombardy. Its proximity to Orio al Serio, Lombardy’s third-largest airport, means it also attracts a substantial number of international tourists.
Sumeet Yadav, chief executive of Hamleys Global, said: “Bergamo is a perfect city to bring our very special brand of Hamleys magic to, and our imminent arrival in the Oriocenter has already triggered considerable excitement amongst the local community – children, parents and families alike.
“This partnership with Giochi Preziosi Group for our third Italian collaboration highlights our commitment to spreading joy and wonder across Italy – now a strategically important country to us on our exciting global journey.”
The retailer was acquired by Reliance Brands in 2019 and currently has 192 shops in 17 countries, including its world-famous flagship store in London’s Regent Street.
Hamleys is continuing to expand into new markets and has recently launched stores in places like Sharjah (UAE), Tirana, Pristina and Doha.
