Gunwharf Quays reports 7.3% increase in first quarter sales

Designer outlet centre Gunwharf Quays has reported a 7.3% increase in first quarter overall sales compared to the same period last year. Retail sales were up 5.8% for the period and sales in bars and restaurants climbed 10.7%.

The Portsmouth based centre, which is home to over 95 discount outlets including Gap, Barbour, Molton Brown and L’Occitane, said that mixed fashion, homewares and accessories were trading “particularly strongly” this year.

Peter Emery, centre director, commented, “Gunwharf Quays not only offers fantastic discounts from designer brands but provides an experience in which consumers can enjoy a whole day out. In today’s economic climate people are looking for added value and Gunwharf Quays offers that, and is a place where you can enjoy shopping, eating and entertainment all in one space. We are delighted with the first quarter results and with our new occupiers and are positive for a successful remainder of the year.”
