Greggs makes two new board appointments
Greggs has announced that it has appointed two new non-executive directors to its board.
Peter McPhillips has joined the Greggs board with immediate effect while Sandra Turner will take her place following the company’s AGM on 1 May.
Both appointments will fill the vacancies that will be created when Iain Ferguson and Julie Baddeley step down from the board at the AGM.
Turner’s experience includes 21 years at Tesco where she held a number of senior management roles including commercial director in Ireland between 2003 and 2009. Since then, Turner has developed a portfolio of non-executive roles including being a director of Northern Foods until early in 2011. She is currently a non-executive director of Carpetright, McBride and Countrywide as well as Finnish-listed packaging company Huhtamäki Oyj.
Never Miss a Retail Update!On joining the Greggs board, Turner will be appointed as senior independent director and chair of the Remuneration Committee, and will also join the Audit and Nominations Committees.
Meanwhile, McPhillips has spent most of his career in food manufacturing having held a number of senior executive positions at Hillsdown Holdings, Terranova and Uniq. More recently, he was European chairman of Hain Celestial Group and is currently a non-executive director of Browns Food Group. At Greggs, McPhillips will join the Audit, Remuneration and Nominations Committees.
