Go Outdoors appoints new commercial director

Go Outdoors has recruited Tesco category director Dan Quinn as its new commercial director.

Quinn will be responsible for the outdoor specialist’s buying, merchandising and own brand development. He will join the Sheffield-based retailer in January after more than 20 years with Tesco.

The role of commercial director has been added to strengthen the board for Go Outdoors’ future growth. Go Outdoors now operates 38 stores nationwide, with a further ten stores to open in 2012.

Go Outdoors CEO John Graham said: “Dan was the stand out candidate during the recruitment process. His skills and experience will be crucial in maintaining the outstanding quality, innovation and best-value price points for which we are renowned. We’re looking forward to Dan joining the team.”

In May this year Go Outdoors to secured a £30 million three-year financial package from Lloyds Banking Group. The funds will enable the outdoor retailer to open ten more stores and create 500 retail jobs annually.  In April private equity firm 3i took a significant minority stake in Go Outdoors, providing a further cash injection.
