Go Outdoors appoints new CFO

Go Outdoors, the camping products and outdoor clothing retailer, has appointed Chris Morgan as its new chief financial officer.

Morgan will join the retailer in March having most recently fulfilled the role of chief financial officer at Focus DIY. Previously, Morgan worked for 16 years at Tesco in key financial roles including a period overseas in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In his new role at Go Outdoors, he will be responsible for finance, IT and logistics.

Commenting on the appointment John Graham, chief executive officer of Go Outdoors, said: “Chris brings a wealth of experience in the management of retail companies. He is another excellent addition to our team of seasoned executives. We’re looking forward to him joining the team and I am confident that he will add significant value to the business in the coming months and years.”

Morgan added: “In many ways my new role with Go Outdoors represents the perfect professional challenge for me. I love cycling and the outdoors, whilst I have enjoyed significant success during my career in the retail sector. It is an exciting time to be joining such a fast-growing ambitious British retail business.”

Go Outdoors outgoing chief finance officer, David Hanney, will leave the company at the end of March.

Graham said the Board wished him well and added: “David will leave us in an incredibly strong position. David’s success in the role of finance director has mirrored that of Go Outdoors as a whole. He leaves us with an impressive legacy. And the calibre of his successor is testament to the standards he has set.”
