Gloucester Quays celebrates major footfall milestone
Gloucester Quays Outlet is celebrating a major milestone after reaching its target of attracting five million visitors a year.
The increasing popularity of the outlet centre and its waterside location has been reflected in the ongoing growth in footfall since the centre’s opening in 2009.
Last year, footfall climbed by 70% on the previous year while food and beverage sales increased by 75%.
Jason Pullen, managing director of Gloucester Quays owner Peel Outlets, said: “The emphasis for Peel Outlets is on offering a great experience for its consumers, which includes an excellent and varied choice when it comes to dining.
“The Peel Outlets philosophy is to incorporate outlet shopping with a fantastic leisure and dining offer in a great waterside setting.
“Coupled with an extensive events programme customers can enjoy many hours experiencing what Peel Outlets centre has to offer.”
Gloucester MP Richard Graham welcomed the news of the surge in visitor numbers and the continued regeneration of the city. He said it was testament to the popularity of Gloucester Quays both locally and further afield.
Debbie Aston-Bell, manager of the Quba Sails shop at Gloucester Quays, added: “The festivals and events we have here are getting bigger and bringing more and more people to Gloucester Quays. In fact, we have been getting customers from all over the country.
“The leisure quarter at Gloucester Quays is now taking off and that is really helping to bring in the visitors. It also makes for an all-day experience, especially for people who are travelling from far away.
