George at Asda signs deals with UK manufacturers
12 March, 2012 | by Retail Bulletin
George at Asda has become the latest fashion retailer to support British manufacturing by signing production deals with UK factories.
Andrew Moore, managing director at Asda’s £2 billion a year fashion division, said the retailer would be working with seven factories in the Midlands to produce fashion lines.
Moore said that George’s production in the UK had increased by 80% over the past 12 months, although this was from “a very small base”.
He added: “It will grow – probably not as fast as we want it to grow – but it will grow and we will support it.”
