Gap to open first Banana Republic store in France

Gap Inc is to open its first Banana Republic store in France in early December. The store will be located in the prestigious Avenue des Champs Elysees in Paris.

The move forms part of the clothing retailer’s international growth strategy and follows launch of a European Banana Republic web site last year.

Stephen Sunnucks, president of Gap’s international division said: “With loyal customers across Europe, both in our stores and online, we are confident that Banana Republic’s proposition of affordable luxury will resonate well with Parisian customers.”

Last week, Gap announced that it wa planning to expand into Vietnam and Guam.

A Gap store will open in Ho Chi Min City in Vietnam in October and a Banana Republic store will open there late next year. The company will also open  two Gap stores in Guam in January under an existing franchise agreement with Casual Clothing Specialist Inc.

Gap operates more than 600 Banana Republic stores in the US, UK, Canada, Italy and Japan.
