Gap appoints new UK MD
Bernadette Foster to head UK business
Gap has appointed Bernadette Foster as managing director of its 140-store UK operation.
Foster joins Gap from the UK division of Japanese clothing retailer Uniqlo, where she was chief operating officer. Uniqlo has scaled back its overseas operations to focus on sales in its home market.
In her new role, Foster, who has also worked at Body Shop, Miss Selfridge, Warner Brothers Studio Stores and the Burton Group, will report to Andrew Rolfe, president of Gap’s international division.
Rolfe said: “Bernie’s depth of retail and apparel experience will add tremendous value to our UK operations as we continue to invest in and grow our UK business.
“She is a strong leader and has a deep understanding of the UK customer and the apparel market.”
