GAME parts company with five executives as part of restructuring process
Collapsed game and console retailer GAME has announced that five members of its senior team are to leave the business as part of its restructuring process.
The company, which was bought out of administration by private equity firm OpCapita last month, said the redundancies will help it to be become more efficient.
Those leaving the company include Tricia Brennan, chief commercial officer, Robert Quinn, operations director, Alex Vines, head of business development and insight, Simon Soffe, group communications director, and Situl Thakrar, e-commerce director.
The company’s new CEO Martyn Gibbs explained: “We’ve made rapid progress in our first month, thanks to the support of our industry partners and the immense efforts of our teams across the UK.
Never Miss a Retail Update!“As we now look further forward, we’ve made some important changes to our senior team to reflect the ongoing evolution of our business. Reorganising the leadership team to match the size and shape of our new business means that we will also be bidding farewell to some friends.”
Of the individuals affected by the redundancies Gibbs said: “Each of these colleagues has made an immense contribution to this business and to our whole industry over the last decade, and I particularly want to thank them for their support over the last few months. They will leave the business during the next five weeks, after a managed transition. We wish them all every success in the future.”
GAME said that the restructuring would involve some employees being promoted as well as new additions to the team. Dominic Lavelle will take on responsibility for the restructuring process as interim chief restructuring officer while Neil Robson has been appointed as interim chief financial officer until the position is filled.
Last month, 277 GAME stores were closed as part of the restructuring process.
