Game makes a French connection

Former FNAC chief joins board
November 14 2003
Electronic game retailer Game Group has appointed Jean-Paul Giraud as a non-executive director.

Giraud, who joins the board with immediate effect, was chairman and chief executive of French retailer FNAC until this summer. During his time at the top, he built FNAC into the largest retailer of its kind in Europe, with a sales format including CDs, hi-fi, video games, computers and computer software, DVDs and videos.
Game chairman Peter Lewis said: “The appointment of Jean-Paul Giraud to the board marks another major step forward for our group. M. Giraud is a notable European businessman with 30 years experience of international retailing on a large scale.
“He will bring to our counsels a combination of successful multi-country management and knowledge that our business needs to help quicken the development of our overseas activities into significant profit contributors. I am delighted he has accepted our invitation.”
