Frasers Group’s Ger Wright to step down as managing director of sport

Frasers Group, the owner of Sports Direct, has announced that Ger Wright will be leaving her role as managing director of sport at the end of November, although she will remain on the group’s board as a non-executive director.

Wright was appointed to the position in 2022 after running her own consultancy and spending over 14 years with Nike. Earlier in her career, she worked with the Levi Strauss denim brand.

In a statement, Frasers Group said Wright had made a significant contribution to the execution of its Elevation Strategy, including the introduction of running and outdoor concepts, the onboarding of new brands, and international expansion into new markets.

Michael Murray, chief executive of Frasers Group, said: “Ger has been an exceptional leader for Frasers Group and we are grateful for her contribution. We look forward to continuing to benefit from Ger’s sector expertise as a non-executive director as we further accelerate the group’s ambitions in sport.”
