Former Threshers boss to chair Wyevale

David Williams takes non-exec role at garden retailer
Wyevale Garden Centres has appointed former Threshers chief executive David Williams appointment as non-executive chairman.

Williams takes up the role on March 1 for an initial three year term. He is a former chairman of Slug and Lettuce and before joining off-licence chain Threshers worked for companies such as PepsiCo and Diageo on brands such as Pizza Hut and Burger King.
Wyevale’s chief executive Robert Hewitt said: “‘We are very fortunate to have attracted a new chairman of such wide-ranging experience. David’s track record in developing consumer retail brands in many markets will undoubtedly bring fresh perspective and valuable knowledge to complement the existing strengths of Wyevale’s management team.”
Williams said: “I’m delighted to be joining Wyevale Garden Centres at this time. I was attracted by the fact that this number one brand operates as a specialist retailer in a growth category. I’m greatly looking forward to working with Robert Hewitt and the other directors to build on the company’s success in serving its customers and to enhance the value of the business for all our shareholders.”
