July 27 2003
DCS Europe, Europe’s biggest household goods distributor, has appointed former Tesco group business development Christine Cross as an adviser.
Cross was responsible for Tesco business expansion in Europe and in other international markets, and will be advising DCS on business and brand development both domestically and internationally. The company distributes a range of household product and health & beauty brands
Denys Shortt, chairman of Stratford-on-Avon-based DCS Europe, said: “This is a tremendous catch for our business. We are expanding rapidly and Christine’s expert knowledge of marketing, the retail sector and consumer issues will broaden and compliment the expertise of our board.”
Cross held a number of senior roles at Tesco including world non-food buying director, responsible for the global sourcing of all non-food products. Before that she was trading director and led a strategic programme to reinvigorate the clothing lines. She played a key role in the development of nutritional labelling and Tesco’s own-label products.
Cross will help DCS Europe expand its central distribution operation as well as helping develop the group’s Enable Software division.
