Flying Tiger Copenhagen to join line-up at Metrocentre

Metrocentre Gateshead will soon be welcoming variety store Flying Tiger Copenhagen to its line-up as the Danish retailer makes a return to the North East.

Spanning 3,600 square feet, the store will be situated on the ground floor of the centre’s Green Mall opposite Boots.

Stocking everything from home accessories and party decorations to stationery and sunglasses, Flying Tiger Copenhagen currently operates almost 1,000 stores across 25 countries.

Mike Burke, managing director of Flying Tiger Copenhagen, said: ”Opening a store back in the North East was always a priority for us and Metrocentre is the perfect location. Our customers have asked us to return to the North East since we moved out of the city centre, we listened and have found the right location. Our focus is now on a number of key shopping centres in Manchester, London and Liverpool’’.

The new letting follows a raft of recent store openings at Metrocentre, including Hobbs, Rowen Homes, Moda in Pelle, Skopes and Apricot.

Ben Cox of Sovereign Centros, senior asset manager for Metrocentre, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming the arrival of Flying Tiger Copenhagen to Metrocentre later this year. The store will join us at a very exciting time, as we’ll also be opening the doors to several new flagships stores for the likes of Zara, Flannels and Sports Direct.”
