Five Guys to open first outlet in South East at Bluewater
Five Guys, the authentic American burger brand, is to open its first restaurant in the South East at Bluewater.
The 2,970 sq ft restaurant at the Lend Lease operated shopping centre will be situated on the lower level of The Plaza, Bluewater’s entertainment dining themed village. The restaurant will open in early Spring.
Commenting on the selection of Bluewater for the start of the brand’s expansion in the South East, Neville Mailing, head of property at Five Guys, said: “Bluewater was on our list of locations from day one. It gives us the buzz and atmosphere of London in a location that provides access to a unique catchment. Bluewater has also been a highly successful location for other new brands that have chosen it to launch outside of London, so we are in confident company. We are excited to be opening early Spring.”
Guy Thomas, head of retail leasing at Lend Lease, added: “Five Guys is a great addition to The Plaza’s entertainment dining offer, and complements our already strong line up. By choosing Bluewater as their first restaurant in the South East, Five Guys highlights how sought after Bluewater is amongst leading UK and international brands.”
Lend Lease said that 37 new brands committed to Bluewater last year, and a further 25 invested in new store designs. In total, over 180,000 sq ft, or 10% of Bluewater’s floor area, was new or enhanced in 2013.
