Farmdrop appoints first director of supply chain
Farmdrop, the online marketplace that enables people to buy fresh food direct from local farmers and producers, has appointed former Marks & Spencer head of logistics Philip Eaves as its first director of supply chain.
The appointment coincides with a major product upgrade as Farmdrop launches one hour slot, seven day deliveries via its fleet of zero emission electric vans and ‘Farmdroppers’.
Backed by Atomico, the investment company founded by Niklas Zennström, Farmdrop launched in 2014 with the aim of closing the gap between the buyer and producer.
Eaves joins a 35-strong team led by Farmdrop’s founder and chief executive Ben Pugh. He will be responsible for all aspects of the supply chain, range and pricing.
Eaves said: “Farmdrop’s reinvention of the conventional food chain model means it’s never been easier to access the freshest food produced on our doorstep and support small-scale independent producers.”
