Executive changes at Home Depot
Home Depot announced that its merchandising chief is leaving the company, and that Bill Patterson is to retire.
The company said merchandising and marketing chief John Costello, 58, has decided to leave Home Depot to pursue other unspecified opportunities. He is being replaced by Tom Taylor, a 22-year company employee.
Bill Patterson, 59, who the company announced in June 2004 would head its expansion to China as president of Home Depot Asia, is retiring and will return to the United States to address some pressing family issues, the company said without elaborating. Chuck Elias, vice president of operations in China, will serve as acting head of the unit until a permanent replacement is named.
Other changes announced Friday include: Carl Liebert, senior vice president of operations, has been promoted to executive vice president of Home Depot Stores.Joe DeAngelo, president of The Home Depot Supply, has been promoted to executive vice president. Marvin Ellison, vice president of logistics, has been promoted to senior vice president of logistics.
