European growth for warehouse and logistics developer

Gazeley announces built-to-suit deals totalling 163,384 sq m (1,758,650 sq. ft.) during first quarter of 2012

The developer continues to expand across the continent in its 25th anniversary year with the announcement of four build to suit deals at sites throughout mainland Europe for a number of leading manufacturers, retailers and third party logistics providers (3PL’s).

Deals follow the record breaking performance during 2011 which saw the development and lease of over 7,000,000 sq. ft. of state of the art logistics space in 18 deals for multinational clients including B&Q, Stanley Black and Decker, Tesco, Walmart and Volkswagen.

The deals include a state of the art 47,000 sq m sustainable distribution centre at GPark Kassel Germany for SMA Solar Technology AG, a world leading manufacturer of solar components.

There is also a 30,000 sq m build to suit warehouse for food logistics service provider Rigterink in Jena, Germany.   Specialists in food logistics, Rigterink will use the warehouse for storing, repackaging and distributing products for some of the world’s most recognised food brands.

A new build-to-suit 29,279 sq m logistics warehouse in Cremona, Northern Italy is for WalCor, a leading Italian chocolate manufacturer, delivered two months prior to the agreed completion date. The warehouse includes a 6.648 sq m controlled temperature zone and was completed in only 7 months.

Whirlpool has signed up for Magna Park Monticelli, Italy. The world’s leading manufacturer of household appliances is refocusing its distribution activities into a single logistics center of 57,105 sq m to be managed by Genoa based third party logistics provider Scerni Logistics.
