eBay to axe 1,000 jobs globally

eBay is to lay off about 10 percent of its global workforce.

The layoffs are affecting about 1,000 full-time employees and about several hundred temporary workers, according to a company statement. Although a company statement put the number of laid off temporary employees at “several hundred,” adding that the reductions were needed “to simplify and streamline eBay’s organisation, improve the company’s cost structure and strengthen the overall competitiveness of the company ‘s existing businesses.”
