eBay appoints new UK senior marketing director

eBay has appointed Gareth Jones to lead its UK marketing function.

Joining eBay’s UK leadership team as senior marketing director, Jones was previously director of marketing strategy, planning and performance at comparison website Compare the Market.

Jones’s 20 years of marketing experience includes Carphone Warehouse where he headed up digital and online marketing. He has also worked in traditional advertising, TV, media and commercial management at Capital One, T-Mobile, Royal Mail and Rolls Royce.

eBay said Jones’s new role will be pivotal to inspiring and engaging customers as it prepares for the important Christmas trading period.

Tanya Lawler, vice president of eBay in the UK, said: “Gareth is a best in class marketer with a proven track record of developing strategies which flow across customer touch points and key platforms. Gareth will play the lead in creating and delivering seasonally relevant, targeted marketing campaigns to the 18 million Brits who visit eBay.co.uk each month.”
