Dixons chief executive to join Apple
Dixons chief executive John Browett is to leave the electrical retailer to join Apple as its senior vice president of retail.
Browett, who has worked with Dixons since 2007, will take up his new role in April and will be responsible for leading the brand’s consumer strategy and expanding the store’s worldwide footprint.
Tim Cook, Apple’s chief executive, said in a statement: “Our retail stores are all about customer service, and John shares that commitment like no one else we’ve met.” He also highlighted Browett’s “incredible retail experience” and the progress he had made at Dixons in “transforming the group.”
Browett will be replaced by group operations director Sebastian James who has been with Dixons since 2008. Katie Bickerstaffe will be promoted to head of operations in the UK and Ireland and will sit on the board alongside James.
